A Courtyard Garden in Battersea, South London

Overlooked on three sides by tall buildings, this small garden was
devoid of plants and rarely used.

The brief from the client was to create an attractive low maintenance garden, with some privacy, for relaxing in and spending time with friends.

The design includes a timber pergola covered in scented climbing plants, screening the seating area below. A mirror is used to reflect light into the area and give the illusion of a bit more space.

Raised planting beds, painted to match the kitchen interior, were filled with seasonal plants and bulbs When you live in a city, just a small number of plants and a little privacy is balm for the soul.
