R.H.S Show Gardens
RENEW:

'Renew' Diarmuid Gavin and Toyah WilcoxThis garden was designed to inspire the use of reclaimed materials, and to demonstrate that they can be used to create a stylish garden.
The design comprises an area of decking made from recycled scaffold boards that would have gone to land-fill. They have been sanded to reveal the beauty
'Renew' R.H.S. Show Gardenof natural materials, whatever their origin. The charcoal grey fence is constructed from marine plywood and forms a striking contrast to the planting. The colour red, representing energy and warmth, is used as a main theme for flowering plants and accessories.
SPIRAL:

'Spiral' R.H.S. Show GardenThis small show garden measures just 3 x 4 m. It has a circle of oak decking surrounded by plants and enclosed by walls, forming an attractive, private area to sit and enjoy a cup of tea in the morning sun.
The planting has structural shapes in the form of grasses such as:
Miscanthus saccheriflorus,
Stipa arundinacea,
Buxus sempervirens clipped in the shape of balls and spirals.
These strong shapes are complimented by flowering plants:
Helenium Moerheim Beauty,
Geum Mrs Bradshaw,
Calendulas officinalis
Alchemilla mollis.
Lavender, thyme and purple sage have been incorporated into the planting plan so that their essential oils are released in the sunshine adding scent to the garden.
A spiral of black uprights mirror the shape of the deck and provide structure to the plant border. The garden is surrounded by pale blue/grey rendered walls, topped with burnt orange stripes that pick up the rich colours of the flowers.
