Introduction | Garden Design | Garden Advice | Major Changes | Minor Changes
- Have you just moved house and don’t know what to do with the garden?
- Maybe you’ve been there a while but have never been happy with the way the garden looks?
- Perhaps you would like to include water and lighting as well as gorgeous plants and flowers in your garden?
- If you have a large garden you may not know how to use all the space, and how do you fit everything you need into a small garden?
This can all be a bit overwhelming, you need someone with professional garden design and landscape experience to design the best lay-out for your budget and the available space, and select appropriate plants.
A good design will give you a wonderful garden and include all the elements that are important to you, such as:
The Pretty Bits are:
- somewhere attractive to sit with friends and family to enjoy the garden
- a place for children to play
- what plants will grow well in your garden?
- the best trees for your garden
- lighting to enhance the garden at night
- a design that reflects the interior of your house
- including water in the design, either a pond or a small water feature
- how to plant round a swimming pool so it fits well in the garden
- what plants and flower colour will look good
- plants that flower in late summer and winter
- do you want a cool green, structural garden?
- scented plants to lift the spirit
The Practical Considerations are:
- the best place for growing vegetables, how big an area should that be?
- where to put the shed, compost bin and somewhere to dry clothes
- how to screen ugly views and enhance lovely ones
- the best place for the paths so that your feet stay dry in winter
- are there too many plants to maintain, or not enough to give you colour and interest?
